Why Use Strip-Till?
It's the Best of Both Worlds!
Strip-tillage is less than full-width tillage of varying intensity that is conducted parallel to the row direction. Generally no more than one-fourth of the plow layer is disturbed by this practice. The goal of strip-tillage is to create a seedbed condition in the row that is similar to that achieved by moldboard plowing, while leaving a relatively high amount of crop residue on the inter-row soil surface to reduce erosion.
Soil Moisture ConservationConserves soil moisture because most of the soil surface area remains covered by crop residue.
Efficient Fertilizer UsageAllows for lesser amounts of fertilizer due to banding application of the fertilizer. Only place the fertilizer where the plant needs it.
Reduced Soil CompactionTilled strips break up compaction in the seed bed allowing for root development and growth.

High Soil Organic Matter RetentionStrip-Till releases less carbon into the atmosphere than conventional tillage by preserving the crop residue in your fields and thus maintaining higher levels of soil organic matter.
Low Soil ErosionIt reduces soil erosion by leaving a majority of the soil covered with crop residue throughout the year.
|
Warm, Dry Seed Bed for PlantingThe tilled strips warm sooner in the spring to promote seed germination and plant emergence.
Fuel Conservation & Reduced ExpensesStrip-Till conserves fuel and energy by only tilling a part of the soil. It reduces expenses by potentially reducing passes over the field and eliminating some primary and secondary tillage.
